And there was I thinking that dealing with a midlife career crisis, being at a crossroads, or struggling to sell themselves in an interview were the toughest things my clients were facing. Now we’re in the midst of a global crisis and we don’t know where we’re going. Or do we?

Having worked and recruited through and post-recession I do have predictions and recommendations and I'm here to help.

COVID-19 is a personal and collective crisis

We are struggling to understand the implications it may have on our lives and future. The news headlines are fear-based and soul-destroying. Every day we hear of the loss of life. People are grieving.

But the truth is things haven’t been that rosy for a while.

Maybe this stay-at-home period will help us find a new perspective and give us a fresh start?

Companies will be reviewing their people strategies. They’ll use this situation to re-evaluate how things are done, how people work and most importantly whom they have onboard. This will be reflected in the recruitment and restructuring processes that will unfold. Which means that things can only get tougher on the career ladder.

So this is the time to get clear on your value and expertise, consider your transferrable skills and polish up your act for what lies ahead.
